LATINO LEADERS GATHER TO DISCUSS ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AND THE ENGAGEMENT OF THE LATINO COMMUNITY

WASHINGTON, DC- The National Latino Coalition on Climate Change (NLCCC), the leading Latino organization dedicated to the issues of energy and the environment will join EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, Latino elected officials, and leaders from the civil rights, labor, government and the environmental community to discuss urban Hispanic communities, environmental health, green jobs and careers, and how to engage Latinos on environmental issues. This is the second year the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) convenes Latino leaders for the Beyond Translation forum. This year’s theme is "EPA and the Hispanic Community: Working Together to Protect Our Health and the Environment At the Places Where We Live, Work, Learn, and Play."

Jason M. Leon, NLCCC Vice Chair and Executive Director of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) will discuss the "Role of Latinos in the Green Environment and Green Economy" among prominent voices within the President’s Council on Environmental Quality, the EPA, the Department of Labor (DOL), the Natural Resources and Defense Council (NRDC), the Blue Green Alliance and the Sierra Club. Mr. Leon will share what the NLCCC is doing to inform and engage Latinos on the issues of climate change, global warming, energy and the environment at the local and national level.

NLCCC SE UNE A LA ADMINISTRADORA DE LA EPA LISA JACKSON EN EL FORO “MAS ALLÁ DE UNA TRADUCCIÓN”

LÍDERES LATINOS DELIBERARÁN SOBRE TEMAS AMBIENTALES Y LA IMPORTANCIA DE INVOLUCRAR A LOS LATINOS

WASHINGTON, DC- La Coalición Latina Nacional sobre el Cambio Climático (NLCCC por sus siglas en inglés), una destacada organización dedicada a temas ambientales y de energía se une a la Administradora de la Agencia de Protección Ambiental Lisa P. Jackson, políticos, líderes del gobierno y del sector gremial, ambiental y de derechos civiles con el propósito de dialogar sobre las comunidades Latinas urbanas, la salud ambiental, empleos y profesiones verdes, y compartir estrategias para involucrar a los Latinos en los temas ambientales. Este será el segundo año en el cual la Agencia de Protección Ambiental (EPA por sus siglas en inglés) reúne a líderes latinos para el foro “Mas Allá de las Traducciones.” El tema de este año es “La EPA y la Comunidad Hispana: Trabajando Juntos para Proteger Nuestra Salud y el Ambiente en los Lugares Donde Vivimos, Trabajamos, Aprendemos y Jugamos.”

Jason M. Leon, uno de los Vicepresidentes de la NLCCC y Director Ejecutivo del Consejo Laboral Para el Avance del Trabajador Latinoamericano (LCLAA por sus siglas en inglés) dará una presentación sobre el “Rol de los Latinos en el Ambiente y la Economía Verde.” Jason León compartirá esta sección del foro con dirigentes del Consejo Presidencial sobre la Calidad Ambiental, el EPA, el Departamento de Trabajo (DOL), el Consejo para la Defensa de los Recursos Naturales (NRDC), la Alianza Azul y Verde (Blue Green Alliance), y el Sierra Club. León discutirá los esfuerzos de la NLCCC para educar e involucrar a los latinos en la discusión sobre el cambio climático, el calentamiento global, energía y el ambiente.
