APRIL 14, 2010- NLCCC TELECONFERENCE ON LATINO VOTERS & CLIMATE CHANGE
Apr 14, 2010 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Description:
On Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 10 AM EDT, Latino climate change advocates will release a new analysis of attitudes towards climate change among Latino voters in three key states: Colorado, Florida and Nevada. These three states are on the front lines of both the politics and impacts of climate change.
The poll will show that Latino voters in key states:
- Consider climate change a voting issue, and are much more likely to support a 2010 Senate candidate that supports a plan for fighting global warming pollution.
- Show strong support for action now, with the overwhelming belief that climate change is real, and having impacts today – despite months of coverage of the so-called “climategate.”
- Believe that moving to renewable energy will mean more American jobs, and reject the notion that fighting global warming pollution will hurt the economy.
The poll was in the field last month, and was commissioned by the National Latino Coalition on Climate Change (NLCCC), which works to ensure that Latinos have an integral voice in the national dialogue on climate change.
