APRIL 15th- NLCCC & CEAC JOINT CONGRESSIONAL BRIEFING- Latinos and African Americans on Energy Policy & Climate Change

Apr 15, 2010 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM

Description:
According to new polls recently released, a majority of Latinos in three key states – Colorado, Florida, and Nevada, and African Americans in four battleground states – Arkansas, Indiana, Missouri and South Carolina see climate change as a critical issue that will affect their votes in the November midterm elections.

Please join the
National Latino Coalition on Climate Change (NLCCC) and the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies for a briefing and discussion on the key policy issues and the results of each of our polls.

This is a unique opportunity for communities of color to voice their views on the key issues, such as the importance of climate change in their communities, the economy and creation of green jobs, clean energy and reducing green house gas emissions, and the need for legislative action.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has found that certain communities, particularly those with vulnerable populations, face special risks from climate change. The Joint Center and NLCCC are working to ensure that any program designed to reduce global warming pollution addresses risks facing communities of color, as well as the general population.
